A Case of Deep Neck Infection with Mediastinal Involvement

Abstract

|
Deep neck infections which affect various cervical compartments, may result in serious morbidity and mortality. Antibiotic therapy has greatly reduced the complications of these infections, but the use of antibiotics has altered the typical
symptom
and
signs, and these alterations made the diagnosis more difficult. Recently deep neck infection was develped frequently at the patient with immunosuppressive state.
We had experienced a severe case of deep neck infection with mediastinal involvement. We report this case and review related literatures briefly.
